Template:Infobox City Japan Hachimantai (八幡平市, Hachimantai-shi) is a city in Iwate Prefecture, Japan.

Hachimantai was founded on September 1, 2005 from the merger of the towns of Ashiro and Nishine and the village of Matsuo, all from Iwate District.

As of January 31, 2012, the city has an estimated population of 28,822, with 10,357 households and a population density of 33.43 persons per km². The total area is 862.25 km².
