Neil Hamilton Wilkinson (stage name Hamilton) is the bassist and second vocalist in British Sea Power.
Earlier in the band's career, he was the secondary songwriter, his brother Yan writing the majority of the tracks for their first two albums. Around 35%[citation needed] of the band's earlier recorded output was written and/or sung by Hamilton, including a number of cover versions on which he has taken lead vocals.
He took more prominence as a songwriter on their third album Do You Like Rock Music?, writing half of the songs, whereas Yan only wrote three of the tracks.
On the majority of his own songs he plays guitar rather than bass, and also plays keyboards on songs such as "Heavenly Waters". He also directed all of British Sea Power's early videos, up to and including "It Ended On An Oily Stage", as well as the video for "Pick Up the Phone" - the debut single by Brakes.
