Indian Institute of Information Technology, Pune (abbreviated IIITP), is one of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology, a group of institutes of higher education in India focused on information technology. The IITTP is located in Pune, Maharashtra, and will start functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus at the Siddhant College of Engineering, Sudumbare, Pune.[1][2] For the academic year 2016-2017, it will offer Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science Engineering. It is being mentored by College of Engineering, Pune (COEP).[citation needed]

History

Establishment

IIITP was approved by the Government of India's (GOI) Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).[citation needed] IIITP has been set up on a public–private partnership (PPP) basis. Fifty percent of the stakes are held by MHRD, whereas 35% is held by the Government of Maharashtra; the rest is held by industry partners, Rolta India and Hubtown Limited. [citation needed]

COEP was declared as IIITP 's mentor institute, and COEP director Dr. Bharatkumar bhagatraj Ahuja was appointed as IIITP 's mentor director.[citation needed]

Academics

Courses

IIITP offers two B.Tech courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science Engineering, with an intake capacity of 60 students each. [citation needed]

Campus

A temporary campus for IIITP has been setup at Siddhant College of Engineering, Sudumbare, Pune. The institute would eventually move to its own campus spread over 100 acres in Chakan.[1]
