[edit] Club career
His beginnings date back to 1991 when he enrolled in the prestigious football academy Tahuichi.[1] Then, first division club Oriente Petrolero acquired his rights in 2000. The year 2001 proved to be the best season of his career, as he helped the club win a championship by scoring a total of 42 goals with only 18 years of age.
He was tempted by Estudiantes Tecos and signed for the Mexican club in the summer of 2002. During the first season at Tecos, Castillo justified his transfer scoring several goals along the competition, but his good form began to drop costing him a place in the starting line-up. Castillo remained with Tecos until May 2004, when he was loaned out. During the following years, he had brief spells with several clubs around South America including Rosario Central of the Argentine Primera, O'Higgins in the Chilean league, Atlético MG from the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and Oriente Petrolero for the second time around. He would also played for Bolivian side Bolívar in two different occasions.
In 2009, Castillo joined Hong Kong First Division team South China on trial, but was dismissed one month later after playing two friendly matches. In January 2010 he signed a one-year contract with hometown club Blooming, where he regained his confidence having a remarkable season with 26 goals scored in 44 games. In December 2010 Tecos decided to include him back in the first team roster and Castillo returned to Mexico, but only after six appearances he was loaned out to Bolívar once again.

Castillo has been capped for the Bolivian national team 22 times, scoring a total of 6 goals in international competitions.
