Kōshien Station (甲子園駅, Kōshien-eki) is a train station on the Hanshin Electric Railway Main Line in Nishinomiya, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, and the nearest station to Hanshin Koshien Stadium.

Layout

  • There are two island platforms with 4 tracks between two side platforms elevated. Ticket gates are located at the east and the west, however there is stadium exit from the south side platform serving Track 4 to the west, and north exit on the opposite side of the west gate.

West

Renovation

  • On June 8, 2011, Hanshin Electric Railway Co., Ltd. announced plans to renovate Koshien Station to start in autumn 2011 and be completed in Fiscal 2016. Of the four platforms at the station, a side platform for unloading eastbound trains will be removed and the remaining three platforms will be widened to accommodate an elevator connecting to the west gate on each platform and another elevator connecting to the east gate on each of the two platforms used for boarding trains. The west gate will be widened to ease access to Hanshin Koshien Stadium, covering a camphor tree in the south of the station. The east entrance will be situated near the east gate making it useful for passengers to access the eastern area of the station. A large roof will cover the center of the platforms and the tracks.[2]
