This is a list of episodes of the third season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden. The episodes are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. Naruto: Shippuden is a continuation of the Naruto manga series by Kishimoto, and continues the same storyline after the passing of two and a half years in the fictional Naruto universe. The third season was broadcast on TV Tokyo in Japan, between April 3, and August 14, 2008.[1] The season was later released on three DVDs in Japan between September 3 and November 5, 2008.[2] The season was referred to by these DVDs as the chapter of Twelve Guardian Ninja.[3]

On January 2, 2009 Viz Media and Crunchyroll began providing subtitled Naruto: Shippuden episodes.[4] Viz have stated the English dub will air sometime in the near future, however, an air date has not been set despite recording starting in 2008.[5][6]

The opening theme for this season was Blue Bird (ブルーバード) by Ikimono-gakari, and the ending themes were Sunao na Niji (素直な虹) by Surface from episode 54 to 63 and "Broken Youth" by Nico Touches the Walls from episode 64 to 77. The second feature movie, Naruto Shippūden 2: Bonds, which is based on the Naruto: Shippuden series, was released on August 2, 2008. The broadcast versions of episodes 70 and 71 include scenes from the movie in the opening themes, while still retaining the original music.
