Livesport Ltd. is a Czech based technology company founded in 2006 by Martin Hájek and Jiří Mareš. The headquarters of the company, Aspira Business Centre, is located in the Prague district of Nové Butovice.

Livesport is the worldwide provider of live scores, statistics and other instant updates from over 35 major sports. The total number of unique users on both websites and mobile platforms is approximately 100 million per month.[1]

The history and the present

In April 2006, Martin Hájek and Jiří Mareš switched on the first version of the website Livesport.cz. At the beginning, the service was available only for Czech users. Livesport then began to expand their service to other countries, mostly under the brand of its flagship product, FlashScore. After entering other continents, Livesport has since become a global company.

Mobile internet and its growing accessibility has played a key role in the further development of instant sports news. In October 2013, Livesport released the first version of its mobile app for iOS and, a few months later, also for Android. As of June 2021, each of the mobile apps developed by Livesport was downloaded by more than 85 million people all over the world.[2]

Investments

In January 2015, Livesport acquired a share in the Danish B2B sports data provider Enetpulse. After a few months, Livesport became the sole owner.[3] The company is also a sole owner of the international broadcasting rights trader Pragosport[4] and of the Czech film-dedicated web project Kinobox.[5] Livesport also holds shares in the Y Soft Ventures investment fund, and in the technological platform Liftago.[6]

Corporate social responsibility

Livesport is a general partner of EDUin, a non-profitable organisation focused on education.[7] Furthermore, the company supports several charitable projects like the Czech affiliate of SOS Children's Villages. In 2020, Livesport became a general partner of the men's top floorball league in the Czech Republic[8] and the partner of both men's and women's national floorball teams.
