Template:Infobox musical artist 2 Logistics is the stage name of Matt Gresham, a drum and bass music producer and DJ from Cambridge, England.[1] He is signed to Hospital Records and has been releasing music since 2004,[2] which he creates using the Reason 2.5 and Cubase sequencers.[1] His music style tends towards the more soul-influenced styles of drum & bass[3] but also targeted at a club audience rather than a home audience,[4] and is described as such by Hospital Records as "bridging the gap between a lacklustre sub-genre, liquid funk, and more exciting, dancefloor orientated drum and bass".[5] His older brother, Dan Gresham, known as Nu:Tone, is also a drum and bass producer signed to Hospital Records, who Matt collaborated with under the name Nu:Logic before starting his career as a solo artist.[5]

Biography

Matt Gresham grew up listening mainly to guitar based music such as Rage Against the Machine, and downtempo electronic music. He took no interest in drum and bass, unlike his brother at the time, until he was introduced to the "Music Box" LP released by Full Cycle Records, which appealed to him as he described it "like downtempo tunes with double time beats".[5]

The first release Matt Gresham was involved in was a collaborative work as Nu:Logic, on Tangent Recordings in 2003.[6] He then went on to release his first work under the name Logistics, "Come To You / Music", on Nu:Tone's own label, Brand.nu, which lead to his signing to Hospital Records.[2] At the time, Matt Gresham was taking a degree in graphic design at Goldsmiths College, but he left in order to pursue a professional career in music production, having become significantly well known in the drum and bass scene.[7] After leaving college, he released several tracks, such as Together and Spacejam (from Spacejam EP) and The Trip (from Weapons of Mass Creation 2) which attracted the attention and influence of some of the major drum and bass DJs in the UK scene, including Grooverider and Andy C.[5]

Template:Sample box endHis most notable achievement to date is his 2006 album "Now More Than Ever", which won BBC 1Xtra's 2007 Xtra Bass award.[8] London Elektricity's Tony Colman, the label manager of Hospital Records, described the album in an interview as "the most eagerly anticipated debut album ever to be released on Hospital."[9]

Along with his brother and fellow Cambridge drum and bass production duo Commix, Logistics helps run a club night called Spoonfed at Cambridge's Fez Club.[1]
