Michael Cinco (born August 27, 1971) is a Filipino fashion designer based in Dubai. He has worked with Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell.[1] His creations have been worn by celebrities like Sofia Vergara, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, Fergie, Paris Hilton, Dita Von Teese, Mischa Barton among others.[2][3][4] His eco-couture collection was featured in the America's Next Top Model. In the Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2012, he launched his scent Impalpable Dream, the latest fragrance of the Bench Designer Scents Collection.[5] Cinco's achievements have been recognized by the Asian Couture Federation and in 2013 the title of 'Asian Couturier Extraordinaire' was conferred upon him.[6]

Biography

Cinco was born in Catbalogan City, Samar, Philippines in 1971. He first studied at the University of the Philippines Diliman major in Fine Arts for the first 2 years and then went to SLIMS fashion and arts school in the Philippines.[7] He furthered his studies in fashion and pattern making by studying a short course at Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London. In 1997, he moved to Dubai and established his own couture house, Michael Cinco Haute Couture in 2003. His works were featured in Dubai Fashion Week and Swarovski shows. In 2011, he won as Breakthrough Designer in the WGSN Global Fashion Award held in New York where he competed with other international designers from the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and America. He joined the Miami Fashion Week where his swimwear collections and bejeweled gowns were featured.[8]

America's Next Top Model

Cinco was the first Filipino designer to be featured on the Emmy-award winning reality show, America's Next Top Model. His collections were featured in the 16th cycle's eco-couture episode of the America's Next Top Model that was shot way back in November 2010 and aired on April 13, 2011 in the United States.[1][9]
