The Bird's-nest Orchid, Neottia nidus-avis, is a non-photosynthetic orchid.
Neottia nidus-avis is a Palearctic species found in Europe, then East to Iran and in North-West Africa. [1] (Codes) [2]
In the British Isles it is found in shady woodland, especially beech, on basic soils.[3]
