Pontcharra is a commune in the Isère department in south-eastern France.
Pontcharra is the birthplace of former Formula One driver René Arnoux (born 4 July 1948). Arnoux won seven Grands Prix from 149 starts and finished a career best third place in the 1983 Formula One season. Arnoux also won the 1977 European Formula 2 Championship.
