[edit] History
Cleveland Unlimited purchased Northcoast PCS in July 2004 from former owner Cablevision. Owners have since invested significantly into the company to improve its network and service. The original Northcoast name was kept in service until 2005, when the Company relaunched with the Revol brand, new plans and many new towers. As of September 2011, holders of the company's formerly outstanding Senior Secured Notes have assumed full ownership of the company. Serving key areas of the Midwest including Cleveland, Columbus and Indianapolis, Revol Wireless offers unlimited nationwide service to any phone number -- wireless or landline -- for one flat monthly rate, without requiring long-term contracts or deposits. Roaming is provided on Sprint-Nextel's CDMA network, Cricket, MetroPCS and Verizon Wireless. As Revol is not a MVNO, it actually owns and operates its own tower system, through purchases of part of the Cricket network and its own holdings gained from Northcoast PCS. The investment team responsible for Revol Wireless is Columbia Capital [2] and M/C Partners
[edit] Payment
Customers pay a set amount each month for unlimited talk, text and data. There are never any overages with Revol Wireless. Revol Wireless offers several bill pay options. Customers receive a free text message each month notifying them that the payment is due. There are numerous free options to pay a bill including: enrolling in auto bill pay, pay by phone using Revol's voice response automated system, paying online or sending in the payment by mail. Revol customers can also submit a payment using the web browser on their Revol Wireless phone by clicking on "My Revol Account".
Revol Wireless currently charges an additional $3 fee to pay a bill, if the bill is paid inside a store location or paid over the phone while speaking with a customer service representative (versus using the automated system).
Basic activation is $0 plus the cost of a phone(if you purchase a phone from Revol) plus first months bill. Revol can now use phones from other networks to set up a plan, utilizing CDMA hardware. Phones are shut off at midnight on the due date with a $8 reconnection fee if payment is not received. Call Records can be received for $20 per month, per line. Payment for services as well as activation fees are non-refundable.
[edit] Features
Revol Wireless features contract-free unlimited nationwide talk, text and data. Unlimited web browsing and unlimited picture mail are available. Revol can now flash most non-Revol CMDA phones from other carriers, such as Sprint, Verizon and Alltel; over to their network using Houdinisoft reprovisioning software, however there is a $30.00 charge to do so.[citation needed].
[edit] Warranty
New Revol Wireless phones come with a one-year manufacturer's limited warranty, which can be handled directly through the manufacturer (plus shipping cost) or for free through full service centers (during the first 30 days of use, after that it is $45). Insurance is also available at $5 a month per phone; you are limited to 2 claims in any 12-month period per wireless subscription, and there is a deductible at the time of fulfillment, which is based on the value of your handset.[citation needed]
