Sergei Popov (marathon runner)

Sergei Konstantinovich Popov (September 21, 1930 - June 25, 1995 in Saint Petersburg[1]) is a retired marathon runner from the Soviet Union, who won the gold medal at the European Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. He did so in a new world record time of 2:15:17. Popov is a three-time winner of the Soviet national marathon title (1957–1959).
