Shambu is a 2008 Indian Malayalam film, directed by KB Madhu. The film stars Vijayakumar, Karthika Mathew, Geetha, Riyaz Khan, Rajan P Dev and Babu Antony in lead roles. The film had musical score by Jassie Gift.[1][2] The film was made in 2004,[3] but had a delayed release in 2008.[4]
Plot[edit]
Journalist Meera starts working on a documentary related to the pros and cons of campus politics. Their main topic was a bus fire tragedy which happened 5 years ago, owing to which Sambhu and his collegemates were put to jail. Sambhu and his friends had attacked and damaged a bus on a strike day, which had ultimately set the bus on fire. In the tragic incident, Sambhu's sister was also put to death as she was one among the commutators in that bus. The sight of his sister being burnt to death makes Shambu mentally disturbed.
The film deals with the investigation of Meera on the case to find out the truth.

Soundtrack[edit]
The music was composed by Jassie Gift. The song "Bomma Bomma" was reused as "Stylo Stylo" in Hudugaata (2007), which ended up releasing before this film.[5]

The song "Sandhye.." was not included in the film.
Reception[edit]
Veeyen of Nowrunning rated the film 1⁄2 out of 5 stars and wrote that "Shambhu is a movie that's weary almost to death with an air of desperation all about. This is perhaps the best of Vijay Kumar on film as yet, but I guess that isn't saying much".[6] Thomas T. rated the film 2+1⁄2 out of 5 stars and wrote that "To sum up, Shambhu has nothing spectacular to offer, though it may be a good way to pass time".[7]
