Sofiane Hanni (born 29 December 1990) is a French-born Algerian football player who plays as an attacking midfielder for Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League.

Club career

Hanni made his professional debut on 1 December 2009 in a league match against Sedan.[1] On 11 June 2010, he was slated to sign a one-year contract with hometown club Paris Saint-Germain.[2] However, a week later, it was announced that Hanni would not be joining the club due to a disagreement between the club and the player's father.[3]

On 20 May 2016, Anderlecht announced the signing of Hanni from Mechelen for a fee of 3 million in 4-year contract.[4]

International career

In November 2009, Hanni, a former France youth international announced his intent to represent Algeria on international level, though he is still currently eligible to play for France.[5][6][7]

In 26 March 2016, Sofiane Hanni was called up for the Algeria national team against Ethiopia in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.[8] Hanni made his debut for Algeria in a 2-0 win over the Seychelles on 2 May 2016.[9]
