Synergistetes is a phylum of bacteria.[1][2] Members are Gram-negative,rod-shaped obligate anaerobes.[2] Species within this phylum have been implicated in periodontal disease,[3] gastrointestinal infections and soft tissue infections.[1]
[edit] Phylogeny
The currently accepted taxonomy is based on the List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature (LSPN) [4] and the phylogeny is based on 16S rRNA-based LTP release 106 by The All-Species Living Tree Project [5]
