Comment[edit]

I have made the distinction that Dunkirk, along with sister ships Agincourt, Aisne, Alamein, Barrosa, Corruna, Jutland and Matapan were later, or 1943 Battle class ships because there was significant differences between these and the earlier 1942 ships, both in length and beam and also in armament.

Pennant numbers (flag superiors)[edit]

The Dunkirk and Jutland had flag superior I rather than D when built; thus the pennant numbers were I09 and I62, not D09 and D62. This shows up the stupidity of using pennant numbers (which changed on several occasions) as means of identification in titles of articles on British warships, rather than using launch years.
