Name[edit]

The name of this article is totally out of whack with reality. The top league in Yugoslavia was never simply called the "First League", but the "First Federal League". But this wasn't even a season of the top club league, but a short tournament between republican teams. We can't just make up names that seem convenient for these articles.--Thewanderer (talk) 18:11, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are right on both counts. However, we usually title articles using the most commonly used names and "First League" is in line with that. "Yugoslav" is appended to distinguish it from other competitions called "first league". I wouldn't mind renaming all seasons from 1946 onwards to "Yugoslav First Federal League" but I don't think there would be much point. As for this tournament, I agree. I think something like "1945 Yugoslav Football Tournament" would be better. Timbouctou (talk) 12:25, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
