Chart summary[edit]

Isn't the chart summary just redundant to the chart tables? All it tells us is which songs and albums went to number one, which is exactly what the tables do. The rest is just pointless trivia about which songs debuted on the chart each week. A true summary should look more like 2005 in British music charts, which itself can be cleaned up a bit, but at least it gives significance to what was charting at the time. Certainly don't need a week-by-week breakdown as it is now and has been. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 02:14, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to OCC website[edit]

As most of you know, the OCC website has been changed. This means having to change the dates for the references. Only problem is the dating system. For instance, when I type in the link [www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-chart/20150103] which usually dates to the following Saturday, it takes me to this link: [www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-chart/20141228] which is the day the chart is announced. Have they started publishing the charts as the day it is announced (Sunday) or still the following Saturday? Only problem now is having to correct the references. User talk:hadji87

Unbe****inglievable! All that time changing dates in all the pages to the following Saturday - and the OCC go and change it to the Sunday. Do we trust them not to change their mind again, before we go through and put them all back? Btljs (talk) 21:18, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that. The dates in the details, including "first charted" and the weeks in the chart runs are still the following Saturday (for recent years anyway). I think we should wait a bit while the site settles down. Btljs (talk) 21:36, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cheerleader: sales and streaming and peaks[edit]

I don't understand what Cheerleader has done that Thinking Out Loud didn't do. Please can you explain it and cite a reference which supports it? Thanks. Btljs (talk) 13:57, 4 May 2015 (UTC) Are you saying that TOL peaked on sales in a week before peaking due to streaming? Then it should read something like "first to reach number 1 in the first instance due to streaming" but it's quite an obscure ditinction, especially as you don't know if it will reach number 1 on sales in the future. Btljs (talk) 14:03, 4 May 2015 (UTC) Yes, that is what I was saying. And also, "Cheerleader" has never peaked at #1 on sales only whereas "Thinking Out Loud" has [1].[reply]

Fair enough. So it's the first song to peak at number 1 on the Official Singles Chart without ever having peaked at number 1 in the Sales (only) chart. Still not sure this is notable, given that Thinking Out Loud has already peaked at number 1 in a given week without being at number 1 in Sales chart albeit on its return to number 1. With the increase in streaming it certainly won't be the last - something hitting number 1 on streaming alone, now that will be note worthy. Btljs (talk) 20:33, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
