Convention for weight categories[edit]

Hi Mohsen1248 could you help me to understand why we should use en dashes to represent "minus N kg" on this page?

I noticed this seems to be a convention on other karate-related Wikipedia articles. But I can't see any reason why this should be? N dash doesn't mean "minus" and is not used on that way by any reputable source I'm aware of.

The WKF doesn't do this https://www.wkf.net/news-center-new/asian-karate-stars-reach-finals-of-akf-championships-in-almaty/1795 nor do the Olympics https://olympics.com/en/olympic-games/tokyo-2020/results/karate

Please correct me if I'm wrong, since I have a lot to learn about Wikipedia conventions.

Hi, you replaced it with - which you called it the minus symbol while in wikipedia this is the minus symbol − you can read Manual of Style/Dates and numbers, Common mathematical symbols section. Sports2021 (talk) 16:17, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
