The SKL is a great idea in theory, but it has too many design flaws. As mentioned in the article the stylus breaks far too easily which is a definite flaw in a piece of military equipment due to the fact that the equipment is often going to be used in the field...especially if you're infantry or another MOS which spends a lot of time "in the box." The SKL also tends to sometimes lose its fill for apparently no reason which is a flaw that puts soldier's lives in danger due to the fact that it can create some serious communication problems. From personal experience the main problem I see with the SKL is that it is both more complicated and slower (slower as in it takes more time to fill a SINCGAR or MBITR) than the old Crazy-10s. I feel that until the SKL can be improved that it would be a bad idea to replace existing comsec key fill devices with the SKL.

Fill devise[edit]

I like using it as a fill devise, the stylus tends to break easily. There was several times when it did lose memory for no reason. It is a nice piece of equipment otherwise. Not that bad...[edit]

I've used the SKL in Iraq and it's not that bad. The only issues that I've had with it is that is was troublesome to load the MBITRs every week, as it kept telling me that it couldn't connect to the radio. It far outstrips the loading time ASIPs and FBCB2 systems take up by an incredible amount. Plus, Ive found that it's extremely user friendly.
