Not exactly true[edit]

The tables suggests a fixed correlation between "Italian grades" and "ECTS grades" or "Definition", but they are only a hint. The only fixed and official correlation is between "ECTS grades" and "Percentage of successful students".

Every Italian faculty, in order to make the "Italian Grade" -> "ECTS grade" conversion, places all the "Italian grades" obtained by all its students of a certain Academic Year, subdivided among different study cycles (BSc, MSc, BSc+MSc), on a distribution and fetches the appropriate percentiles (as indicated in the "Percentage" column).
