Metathesis in Several English Dialects, Not Just AAVE[edit]

"Aks" or "ax" for "ask" goes back at least to Anglo-Saxon times (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metathesis_(linguistics)#English, http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=ask&searchmode=none), was freely used by Chaucer (can't find an example on line), and survives in several dialects of English today, including those of many white speakers in New Orleans and Long Island, New York. It also occurs in some Caribbean dialects of English, which are not generally classified as AAVE. It is by no means exclusive to black American English speakers. The disambiguation page should reflect these facts, but at the moment there doesn't seem to be adequate coverage of the topic on Wikipedia, so it's difficult to improve the disambiguation page.
