I've[edit]

I've added a {{mergeto}} tag to the newly-created Dick van Velzen article. Initially that was unreferenced and tagged as an attack page, however following adding citations I've come to the conclusion that it adds little or nothing to this article, and should be merged and redirected here. Any comments? Tonywalton  | Talk 10:50, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It might be worth mentioning the Canadian connection to this story: see [1]. --Saforrest 00:21, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why?[edit]

Did the inquiry reveal any reason why the organs were stored? I don't see in the article where any indication is given. I would imagine the reason was fairly benign, like selling them, or using for transplants, sacrificing in satanic rituals, or maybe just for fun; but it doesn't say. 216.36.186.2 (talk) 16:36, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The organs were most likely stored for educational purposes. They would have had examples of many different and rare heart pathologies. These are helpful in the education of medical students and cardiac surgeons. The pathology museum at St Barts has hundreds of stored organs. However since these were all stored over a hundred years ago no one has any objections to it. I won't add this to the article as I cannot provide a reference, since I was told this by a surgeon.
