four dots and a dash?

First, this needs a source. Second, I was told it was al-ge-rie (three dots) fran-caise (2 dashes).

or perhaps 3 dots and 2 dashes because in a word each syllable is given the same length in French. So the four dots and a dash wouldn't agree with that either.
