Didn't he just sing schlagers? The word schlager may sound a bit disrespectful and undervalues his songs, but the term may clarify a lot to the average English language reader. Andries 22:38, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable statements[edit]

True, Dutch people are known for 'singing along' and the Dutch Anthem has 13 (?) verses, but only the first is sung at official events and gatherings, so no wonder.

Absolute nonsense! Look at any list of the top hits of the last 30 years and it is full of Dutch language songs. They also tend to stay in the charts for longer than Anglo-American releases. Skinsmoke 00:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very true, there are many Dutch language songs in their top40 chart!
