Fair use rationale for Image:Archery 2008.gif
[edit]Image:Archery 2008.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:38, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Competition Format

gender segregation
[edit]Some people are curious why archery is sex-segregated, perhaps this article can try to answer this question? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.203.56.57 (talk) 17:03, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Nearly all sports are sex-segregated. No reason for archery to be different. But from a practical point of view, men are generally able to use stronger bows than women, which gives them a distinct advantage. Mr Barndoor (talk) 08:34, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
New record table
[edit]Hello. I've added a new-records table to the Records section for each of the four events. Unfortunately, I don't have a full understanding of the scoring and terminology related to these records and some of the records don't seem to make sense in the context of the displayed PRIOR records. Perhaps someone more knoledgable than I can clarify these. Thanks. -- Tcncv (talk) 03:41, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Archery records can be confusing, though FITA does appear to simplifying. Essentially, there are now two records per event. There is a record for the ranking round (72 arrows for individual, 216 for teams) and a record for matches (12 arrows for individuals, 24 for teams). The 24-arrow team match is new for the Olympics, since it was instituted after 2004 (when team matches were 27 arrows). I've edited the record tables, hopefully they should make sense now. Let me know if there's still any confusion. -- Jonel (Speak to me) 17:23, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
