Contested infobox[edit]

@SSSB: All the information you have complained about can be found on the Audi media website, contrary to any claims of OR. Since we are writing about a future entity there will naturally be a degree of anticipation: we cannot know for sure that the details we have today will still be current in 2026, but we have to make do with what is currently confirmed. I have provided citations as necessary. In regards to the complaint about listing Seidl, you know full well that not all teams refer to their leadership as team principals. You will note that Seidl, despite his title of CEO, is listed in the current Sauber infobox. This has never been a problem before. As for the Audi Sport logo, that is merely my judgement call again based on what is visible on the Audi media site (there's a roughly equal split between the use of the Audi rings and the Audi Sport logo). I suspect that won't be the logo used come 2026, but that's what's been used to represent the Audi entry at the moment (and same goes for the name "Audi F1 Team"). 5225C (talk • contributions) 10:33, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You might be able to find it on the Audi website but it wasn't in the citation given in the infobox (notice the past tense, it is fine now). Whether it was unsourced or original research is unimportant. I am well aware that not all teams call their leadership team principals. I also know that some teams have CEO and team principal as seperate positions within teams. I know that in instances where their official titles are CEO, secondary sources call them team principal, meaning that when we do it, it is no longer WP:OR. I know that original research at Sauber does not justify original research here. I know that the infobox at Sauber also clearly shows that Seidl does not carry the title team principal, but the title CEO - we should at least be doing the same here, for both Seidl and Baker. that is merely my judgement call again based on what is visible on the Audi media site - that makes it your original research. As we only have original research, we can just leave the field empty, it doesn't need to be populated. SSSB (talk) 11:28, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, I'm glad we're on the same page and can agree that there is nothing wrong with listing Seidl and Baker in the team principals field. Perhaps, more generally, the infobox should be updated to allow that label to be overriden (as is done with the technical director field)? It is not OR to look at the entry's website and observe what logo they use, the difficulty is Audi have made prominent use of both devices. Obviously, I don't see much issue in making that judgement call, but if the ambiguity is a real sticking point I'm also open to leaving it blank. 5225C (talk • contributions) 11:46, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are we looking at the same website? Because the only logo I see is the Audi Media Centre logo: [1]. It is also not clear what the difference between Baker and Seidl's jobs is (CEO of Audi Formula Racing GmbH and CEO of the Audi F1 factory team, but the factory F1 Team is the only Formula Racing project Audi currently have?) But, right now it looks like they are joint team principals which clearly is not the case. SSSB (talk) 12:13, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Seidl is CEO of Sauber AG , the entity Audi is gradually buying out and will transition to being the race team (which I suspect is where the confusion comes from, because even though Sauber is now owned by Audi it's operating as an independent organisation pre-2026). Audi Formula Racing GmbH is the entity conducting the engine development. They're not joint since they are in different parts of the project, but they're equivalent. Not sure how to most concisely label this. 5225C (talk • contributions) 12:29, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Formula E[edit]

@SSSB: It might make sense to mention the E team: (almost) the same name, same logo, similar approach. So some continuity is definitely there. --Викидим (talk) 01:21, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article is titled "Audi in Formula One", not "Audi in formula racing". Obviously there are similarities and "continuity" between two motorsports teams owned by the same company, that doesn't mean they can or should be dealt with together. 5225C (talk • contributions) 02:23, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
they can or should be dealt with together - I don't think that I suggested that: we already have an article for this other team. I still think that a link to the Formula E team would be nice to have here, but truly do not care much about both teams, so leaving it completely up to other editors to decide. Викидим (talk) 03:42, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure they have the same name and logo. Do they have the same approach? Unless the approach is simply to win, I'm not sure this is the case. I would also question the continuity arguement. Formula One does not stem from Formula E. They just happen to be two championships Audi has competed in, with a gap of several years inbetween. I don't really see a tangible, noteworthy link between these projects compared to any other Audi projects. SSSB (talk) 21:37, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
