Rubbish[edit]

Seems to be based on Webster's 1913 dictionary definition:

"Axstone: A variety of jade. It is used by some savages, particularly the natives of the South Sea Islands, for making axes or hatchets."

...presumably bowdlerised into Encarta Webster's Dictionary, and hence Encarta. A google search for "axstone Polynesia" finds essentially nothing. Of course there are stone axes of various sorts throughout the Pacific - just no particular material known as "axstone" - Snori (talk) 07:10, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
