Please stop inserting the error, the German plural of "uncles" would be "Onkels". "Onkel" is correct, "Onkels" is a frequent mistake. Every dictionary says this, e.g. duden.de or dict.leo.org. --Matthäus Wander 01:26, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Yes, the correct plural form of "Onkel" is "Onkel", too, but in every day's talk, the false plural form "Onkels" is occasionally used, mainly by children.

But their name is Böhse Onkelz. You would write böse, not böhse.....don´t write any shit please! Thank you cheers

I would translate it as "evil unclez". It is right that in German Onkel has no plural. One uncle, two uncles sould be translatet as ein Onkel, zwei Onkel. They act in bad faith with using the wrong plural ;) --Athalis 15:45, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think, this would be a better translation. gx--84.180.80.48 17:36, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- From my point of view, the most fitting translation would be "Ehvil Unclez"....

Some of the English in this article is kind of awkward. I'm willing to reword some of this so it's a little more understandable to native English speakers. I don't really know the protocol on doing this, though, so I'm checking here before I go and do it. Willickers! (talk) 21:29, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

by the way: "Böhse Onkelz" ain´t grown-up slang. It was, as Weidner said, an instant exclamation of some other teenagers, when the "Onkelz" took their sledge. :-) Gonna correct it in the text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.237.91.160 (talk) 10:34, 29 February 2008 (UTC) - "Böhse Onkelz" is baby talk for evil grown-ups. I think, the article makes that very clear...[reply]

Adressing the issues of translating "Böhse Onkelz", personally, I don't see why it needs to be translated literally at all, I know people like to play around with these sorts of things, but it adds nothing to the article. I suggest keeping the explanation of how it's used and where it comes from, and leaving it at that. Banja star (talk) 20:01, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong is - the dispute about Onkels or Onkel, because in standard german it is Onkel, while in low class slang it is Onkels. The german speaker above argumenting with dictionaries is of good will, only he has no idea of german blues.
Wrong is - The Böhse Onkelz ([ˌbøːzə ˈʔɔŋkəls], 'German böse Onkel',
Thats definitely as ignorant as writing in the german wikipediea "The Beatles" means "Die Käfer" (The Beetles)

Conclusion:

Böhse Onkelz ([ˌbøːzə ˈʔɔŋkəls] was the name of a German rock group who retreated from active music business in 2004. The bandname is a mock of chilrens slang of "Böse Onkel"(evil uncles). Blah blah ...
If nobody has a better idea, after a while i'll change the intro that way.--Fluss (talk) 02:16, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV Banner[edit]

Hi, I went through this to work on the English and have hopefully done so. However, the article doesn't source many of its statements at all - many of which could be considered "generous interpretations" of the band's actions. I think this urgently needs sorting out. If nobody has a better idea, in some hours i'll start my job here.--Fluss (talk) 02:24, 18 May 2008 (UTC) Well, took a year, i added just one important word. Sorry, the rest lost importance for me.--Fluss (talk) 22:46, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

At [1] you can find the logo of Böhse Onkelz. Addition in this article would be fine! Thx --91.20.103.250 (talk) 12:46, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Charts[edit]

In the lead it mentions that almost all their albums reached number 1 on the charts. This seems a little vague and it would be nice to clear it up by maybe saying how many did actually make it or just change it. What does everyone think? Coralshin (talk) 07:36, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since Viva los tioz (1998) every studio album until their disbanding (2005) reached number one. (=4 albums including Viva los tioz) plus 3 of 4 Live albums/DVD box sets at number one on the album charts since (1998) The Rerelease of "Onkelz wie wir"(2007), the best of "Gestern war heute noch morgen" (2001) and the best of "Lieder wie Orkane" (2011) didn't chart at number one.

You can look it up in the discography. (Onkelz wie wir chart position is from the rerelease)

Rightwing tendencies[edit]

Just read the article, to my surprise, it is only mentioned, that they were accused of being rightwing. This is hilarious, they were one of the most known extreme right bonehead (not skinhead) bands in west germany in the beginning. They only started to distance from that much later, but still had very diffuse pseudo-rebellious lyrics, but were able to gain a large fanbase and earn a lot of money. Until today, this band is highly criticised among german society, still being regarded by many as a, not nazi anymore, but dangerous conservative element with some influence. KhlavKhalash (talk) 08:33, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree; this article reeks of bias, is full of subjective statements, and reads like it was written by a big fan or someone close to the band, but because I am dumb, I don't know how to mark it as such. someone pls halp lol - Bottlesofsmoke (talk) 15:37, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
