FUG[edit]

The FUG was an original hungarian design (Rába chassis, Csepel engine & suspension), not a copy (AND the layout similar to brdm-2 not to brdm-1! EG rear engine) source: Varga A. József ; Bárdos András [et al.] 2008. Magyar autógyárak katonai járművei. – Budapest, Maróti Könyvkereskedés és Könyvkiadó Kft, 493 p. BRDM obr. 1957 ... BRDM obr. 1958[edit]

"obr" stands for образец, sample, model, template, make, perhaps same as Britisih "mark" in tanks.

I guess it is to be translated rather than just sonverted from cyrillics to latin letters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.140.21.188 (talk) 20:33, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I talked with specialist on Soviet AFVs a few months ago and we decided it would be better to leave it like this. Regards. - SuperTank17 (talk) 20:49, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's common in English-language writing to use terminology like BRDM model 1958 for Soviet AFVs, for example, in T-34#Model designations. Obr. is almost never used verbatim, even in specialist publications, because it has no meaning to English readers, all the more so in a general source like Wikipedia.

Which specialist did you talk to, Supertank? Michael Z. 2008-08-24 21:23 z

I was talking with Dendirrek. He/she has a vast knowledge about Soviet AFVs and as far as I know has access to many sources about the subject. If you want you can ask him/her yourself at his/her talk page. Regards. - SuperTank17 (talk) 21:28, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see he also told you to beware of false information in the JED site. I've found problems with it too. Michael Z. 2008-08-24 21:49 z
Some of the information there is false, yes, but some of it is still true. Regards. - SuperTank17 (talk) 22:06, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tone Tag[edit]

I have added a tag asking for editing to improve style/tone. The article is pretty much breathless, with too many run-on sentences and a style that makes it a bit hard to read. I would go about a rewrite, but I simply don't know enough about the article topic to proceed. Dpenn89 (talk) 07:01, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Number used by SSSR[edit]

I don't understand how in the list of operators it is said, that SSSR operated 10 000 units of BRDM-1. I belive that 10 000 units were produced total, can author possibly correct this number or explain it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Just The Chuck (talkcontribs) 17:58, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
