Poor intro[edit]

Backsliding is a term used within Christianity

The term 'backsliding' is used in English in other religions, not only Christianity, aside from the concept of reverting to former 'sinful' behaviour being pretty universal in many languages across the world. It's not convincng as a ' theology phenomenon' either, it is more a description of some religious behaviour, i.e. more to do with religion than having any particular connection with God. Backsliding has also been used in many instances to describe the situation of former criminals returning to their past law-breaking behaviour, dieters returning to bad eating habits etc.

Needs disambig too, which I will attempt. Centrepull (talk) 09:47, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It also appears to mean going back to a previous boyfriend/girlfriend, as it is used this way in Backslide (New Girl). Jim Michael (talk) 09:31, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And in How I Met Your Mother, including the episode Shelter Island. Jim Michael (talk) 12:42, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
