Details...[edit]

Does anyone know any other details about this battle? --Anthony5429 07:11, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Authenticity[edit]

I'm not sure if this event is historically sound, since there is no "Battle of Amiun" between Byzantines and "Maronite armies" in recorded history, except from a single source by Estephan El Douaihy. If it is not sound, then the article should be changed or described as dubious. In a book called The Maronites in History by Matti Moosa, the author states that the entire episode described by El Douaihy or Al Duwayhi "appears to be groundless", not to mention certain name confusions such as wrongly putting the name of John Maron instead of John or Yuhanna (a probable Mardaites leader) to be the one who fought against the incoming Byzantine army.
