Prod/notability[edit]

I'm removing the prod tags -- he's an edge case to be certain, but I think the combination of his being a potential fourth-generation NHL player, a US junior national teamer, and the first Tennessee-trained player to be drafted into the league pushes him slightly above the notability waterline. ...First player from Tennessee...[edit]

I removed this part about being the first player from Tennessee to win the Hobey Baker, it wasn't in the reference cited at the end of the sentence, and the lead says he was born in Florida. I'm guessing it refers to being trained in Tennessee, but couldn't find a citation for it, and it looks strange with the different birthplace. Canada Hky (talk) 15:05, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fourth generation player?[edit]

This would be more accurate if the descending line wasn't broken. Blake's paternal grand-mother (Boom Boom's wife) never played a game in the NHL. Nor did Blake's paternal great-grandfather (Boom Boom's father). GoodDay (talk) 18:21, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's just opinion. Reliable sources say he's fourth generation, and given his great-grandfather played, reliable sources are accurate. He is still directly descended from Howie Morenz. Resolute 18:24, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There's no genetical link between Howie Morenz & Bernie Geoffrion. The sources say Blake is a fourth-generation NHL player & I can't dispute what the sources say. But genetically speaking, he's simply not a fourth-generation NHL player. GoodDay (talk) 19:06, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm with you, GoodDay. To be a fourth generation player, Bernie would have had to be Howie Morenz's son. If Ron Hextall's son plays in the NHL, he will be the first true fourth generation player.Hellbound Hound (talk) 04:42, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
