Resumption of through running[edit]

I have deleted the reference to through running from Aberdare, Treherbert and Merthyr Tydfil because the source that is cited simply does not support the assertion. If there is alternative authority for this suggestion, it should be cited.

Whilst it would be convenient for there to be some through trains, the proposal would present two disadvantages: (1) surely some peak hour trains running between Rhondda Cynon Taf and Cardiff are generally longer than those currently running on the Butetown Branch Line. Would the proposed new stations at Cardiff Bay and Loudoun Square accommodate them? (2) Assuming the services from the valleys are doubled to 4 tph from each RCT terminus, 6 tph would still mean that half the trains did not offer a through service to Cardiff Central and its mainline connections. This would surely inconvenience more travellers than it would advantage.Ntmr (talk) 15:56, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
