Question[edit]

What did Charlotte Emerson Brown do? What is she notable for? The article gives no indication of any substantive accomplishment. What is a club-woman and why is that important?--Tomwsulcer (talk) 15:26, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Tomwsulcer:She was the first president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The movement was a way for women to engage in civic activities and was a part of the progressive movement in the US. All that aside, she has a Brittanica article, as well as coverage elsewhere. That's enough to satisfy WP:GNG. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:14, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. I did a copyedit to try to prevent this article from going on the chopping block; I still think there could be more information about her role in the clubs, their impact on society, etc.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 22:06, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. When I found the article on NPP it was an unreferenced and orphaned stub. I added the Britanica reference and linked it to other articles/vice versa to get it to the point where it was a passable stub that I felt satisfied WP:GNG. The IP editor has added more information but it could still be expanded. TonyBallioni (talk) 22:56, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
