2008 Chevy Classic[edit]

Did this car actually exist? My understanding is that previous gen Malibus were still built under the name "Malibu" for a short time early this year, but there was never a car badged as a 2008 Classic. 71.134.228.37 (talk) 07:24, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Naming conventions[edit]

My girlfriend owns a 2005 Chevrolet Classic. I have done a considerable amount of work on it so I am familiar with the car in many ways. Yes I agree with most of what is posted however referring to it or any car as a Malibu Classic is not correct. In our case prior to 2004 it was a Chevy Malibu. However when the Malibu gets redesigned they re-badge the old model as Chevy Classic and sell the new Malibu. Now it is only a concern when obtaining parts and this includes dealers and aftermarket parts company. When the say Malibu I stop them immediately and say no. Because if they give you Malibu parts most likely they will not fit.

I am including a pic of the Haynes service manual to demonstrate what I am describing.
