Article name[edit]

The Secretary of the Interior seems to have "renamed" Columbia Island to "Lady Bird Johnson Park" in 1968. But even the National Park Service has some references to "Columbia Island" (such as "Columbia Island Marina [1]) and it is probably more common, so I made no effort to change the article name. If the island had been renamed "Lady Bird Johnson Island" perhaps it would be different.

Anyway, as the island and the park are coterminous, it seems right to have just one article for both, for now. — Eoghanacht ^talk 14:50, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it is right to have one article for both. But the article should be titled Lady Bird Johnson Park, particularly since it is rare to have a land feature named after a woman (especially because of her work) and that should not be downplayed. The page Columbia Island (District of Columbia) should redirect to that, instead of the other way around as it is now. This should have been done upon realizing the name was wrong.

The fact that the word Island is not part of the name Lady Bird Johnson Park is only of minor relevance since many islands (Great Britain, Australia, Hispaniola, Cuba, Malta, Sicily, etc) do not have the word Island in their name. TopDomino (talk) 14:11, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
