Issues[edit]

There is way too much detail and confusion in this list article. American slave court cases should serve as an example of what this should look like.

  • Every entry in the list should be notable, and have the potential of having its own article.
  • The rulings and any notes must have inline citations to reliable sources. The case citation provides verifiability for the existence of the case, but secondary sources provide for notability and the importance of the ruling. (If you can't find sources, then the case probably isn't notable.)
  • The summary of the ruling and any notes should be kept brief:
    • These should be of a consistent length for all list entries. If one becomes longer than the others, it gives that entry undue weight – in such cases, split the content to its own article, even if that article is a stub. (This assumes the material was properly sourced to begin with.)
    • It is unencyclopedic to list rulings in full; we should summarize the most relevant parts.
    • Complex interrelations between cases are outside the scope of this article.
