What is wrong with the lead?
[edit]It's not like this town is overly large or overly notable. The most important thing that ever happened here, apparently, was the mid-19th century founding of the company that is the predecessor to Berkshire Hathaway, Valley Falls Co. I find the comment on the opening paragraph to be misguided and maybe even downright silly. Simplton (talk) 22:31, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- The lead is a bit sparse compared to the lead of some wiki articles about other similar Rhode Island towns, Lincoln, for example. I agree that Cumberland is not especially notable, at least as compared to other more interesting places like Newport, Providence or even Pawtucket but that does not mean the article cannot be written in an interesting manner. Obviously, anyone who comes to read the article is interested in learning about the town and this article leaves out a lot of interesting facts about the town. I would lead the article with "was home to the first European settler of what eventually became Rhode Island" In other words, Cumberland is to Rhode Island what Plymouth is to Massachusetts or St. Augustine is to Florida. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.14.134.196 (talk) 11:08, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
