Daria is Polish, not Ukrainian.

How is she from the Ukraine? According to the article, she was born in Poland and raised in Canada. 70.48.164.75 03:43, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Polish or Ukranian?[edit]

You retards stop changing it to Ukrainian. She is of Polish birth, (as sourced in multiple magazines) from Krakow, Poland, and polish-ethnicity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DTGG (talkcontribs)

Dear DTGG, please take a look at WP:NPA page. Other than that, I have very little interest in this person to argue and search for her origins other than I view the image debate important and precedent setting. But you do change your manners. --Irpen 00:55, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A major brazilian weekly magazine reported this week she is polish, but from ukrainian citizenship. The magazine reports it's her first time in Brazil. She is attending São Paulo Fashion Week, launching a cosmetic product line and visiting a social program in Rio de Janeiro. Other cited facts:

  • She was born in Poland, is a citizen from Ukraine and was raised in Canada.
  • She likes Francis Bacon, Picasso and Andy Warhol.
  • She loves wind boats, and used to teach it to poor children.
  • She cleans her skin using sugar, as her grandmother did.

And sorry for my bad english. Saulo Paiva 14:49, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Saulo Paiva thanks for the info. Is there also an internet link to this information (even if in Portuguese)?--Riurik (discuss) 00:11, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there is. But it's locked. Only subscribers have access. I could scan the magazine if you want... Saulo Paiva 17:06, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't think that's necessary as long as the reference info in the article is accurate, someone can verify it should a need arise.--Riurik (discuss) 03:24, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that 454 isn't a page number. It's the magazine issue number. I think the right way to write the source is Época magazine 454, page 107, January 29th, 2007. Editora Globo. Saulo Paiva 14:18, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Taken care of. Also replied at my talk page, but not much info.--Riurik (discuss) 07:08, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am Daria's close relative and I can confirm that although she was born in Poland (in Warsaw not Krakow!!!!!) she is ethnically Ukrainian and is very proud to be so, she is a fab Ukrainian dancer to boot. I think you should think twice before using words such as "retards" if you actually do not know yourself!--Ooh 17:12, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also she only hold Polish and Canadian Citizenship, your sources are wrong fro what reason I can not say. Ooh 17:12, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats on being related to Daria. I'm sure your information is more accurate, but "I'm a close relative" is not a reference that can be verified. If possible, please provide a reference that can be used to establish her place of birth and/or current citizenship.--Riurik(discuss) 21:21, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plagarism[edit]

Quite a bit of this article is plagarised form dariawerbowy.org.

Daria is ukrainian[edit]

Stop saying she's polish, because that's not true. Her last name means "willow tree" in ukrainian language. Even her name and names of her brother and sister are typical ukrainian names - Daria, Orest and Oksana!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kitola (talkcontribs) 16:00, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She was born in Poland, so it's accurate to say she's "Polish-born." She then moved to Canada at an early age, which makes her Canadian, hence she's a Polish-born Canadian model; if she has Ukrainian citizenship and Ukrainian parents, it's all clearly stated in the article, so I don't see the problem here.  Mbinebri  talk ← 04:47, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I agree with you, she's polish-born, but it's important to mark that she has ukrainian ethnic background, because many people think she's polish.comment added by Kitola

See her IMG card - in bio u can read "Ukrainian beauty Daria Werbowy was born in Poland and raised in Toronto, Canada."comment added by Kitola —Preceding undated comment was added at 21:38, 26 January 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Her IMG card does not dictate what this article has to say.  Mbinebri  talk ← 16:47, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
