To sack or not to sack[edit]

On the subject of Dave Murray leaving the band back in the 70s, it is very often said that Wilcox put some pressure on Steve Harris (bassist) so that he'd "sack" Murray because of jealousy. It seems Murray had a girlfriend (good-lookin' or not, that I don't know) and that was not something Wilcox appreciated since he didn't have one. I think I heard this in the DVD-Documentary the band's released some time ago ("Early days", I think it's called), so maybe some sort of explanation for Murray suddenly leaving the band for such a short period of time should be given (I'm just laying the facts there, in case they can be considered interesting)(Thought you might appreciate the details, that's all)

By the way, wasn't it Dennis WILCOX instead of WILCOCK?

moonface[edit]

I love Dave the moonface, he's the ultimate heavy metal legend

Moonface is great!

anyone know where this nickname originated from? is it because he is always smiling?

---

No, it's because he has a big, round face. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.217.28.88 (talk) 05:00, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Better Picture[edit]

I don't know about you guys, but I think the picture of Dave Murray in this article is pretty sub-par in quality. I think that there should be a better picture to display Dave. Whiffle Ball Tony (talk) 23:53, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was able to find a superior photo (my opinion) on commons, and changed to that one - if anyone feels my change was inappropriate, please revert and let me know. --Kurtvw (talk) 17:27, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guitar Specs inaccuracy[edit]

In the Guitar Specs section, the remark regarding the Fender Signature Artist Series... "The original black '57 Stratocaster has the same features as his Artist Series Model"

Is factually incorrect.. The PAF DP103 Pickup used on the neck of the new guitar did not exist at the time Dave was playing the original '57.

I am updating the article to

"The original black '57 Stratocaster has similar features to his Artist Series Model"

Kurtvw (talk) 20:16, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The picture that is linked with his main Sunburst California Series Strat is wrong. That is in fact his Black USA Floyd Rose Classic Strat which was his main guitar during a few shows while the sunburst strat was being refretted (I'll try to correct that) . There are also 2 new guitars on the 2016 tour, which I added and linked with pictures from Colin Price's (his guitar tech) twitter.

Ok this is my last attempt of fixing the guitar section. 6 years is a lot, and Davey has updated his setup. Whoever keeps deleting my updates clearly doesn't check my cited sources. He also doesn't either know who Dave is or is a fan, but doesn't care what he plays and doesn't know the difference between a Strat and a Les Paul. Also he is madly in love with the Premier Guitar article which was written by a Sunday writer (the article says that black guitar is sunburst?!?!?!?, and says that Janick's main strat is a White guitar?!?!?!). I am trying to update the site, but because I don't have an username you keep deleting my updates. There is a lot of info in IMFC magazines, which are not accesible to anyone, so I try my best to find at least photos of equipment that is used from reliable sources (Colin Price's (Davey's guitar tech) public sites). It's easier to just delete than to check, isn't it? Screw you.

All information and their sources are checked when added. There are specific guidelines as to what constitutes a reliable source and links to photos on Twitter do not meet these specifications. In addition, detailed lists of technical specifications based on pictures alone is in clear violation of Wikipedia's no original research policy. I understand the frustration with the lack of reliable sources we have available to fill in the section, but becoming abusive on the talk page and reverting without reading the edit summary for an explanation is not the way to get what you want. I have found a more up-to-date article on Murray's guitar and have edited the section accordingly.--Nerdtrap (talk) 10:31, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for updating that section. I might add that a couple things are still wrong. The crem Floyd rose classic strat is from 1999, not from 85 (fender did not put a Floyd on a strat until Sambora Signatures in 1990). Also both the cream and sunburst strats have JB jnr's in middle positions since 2012).
