COI[edit]

With respect to concerns about COI, please see Talk:Out There (Eleanor McEvoy album), where the creator of this page asserts that (s)he is working at the behest of the artist. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:46, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have rewritten both pages in order to make them only factual. Please let me know if you still see a problem. I appreciate your help with these articles. My intent was to create informational articles not biased sites. I'm new to this so I'm leaning as I go. I have removed the warnings. If I am incorrect in doing this please let me know. Thanks Editthis2662 (talk) 22:38, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You didn't actually remove the COI tag from the article, but the talk page header from the talk page. The header on the talk page should remain; please don't remove that. As for the tag on the article, I would have no objection to its removal if the text is neutralized, but this article still contains the phrase "continues the high quality audio work". Who says that the work is high quality? Wikipedia's articles are written neutrally, and we do not bestow criticism or praise unless we attribute it to a reliable source. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:31, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I have neutralized the article to only contain the facts. I would appreciate it if you would read it over to let me know if you think it sounds alright now. I really appreciate all of your help in this matter. As I said before I truly am just trying to make these pages informational, and I'm really happy to keep re-writing them with that goal in mind. Thanks again for your help. Editthis2662 (talk) 12:02, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It looks neutral now. :) I removed the snippet of review from the infobox. Those are not placed there. If you want to make a critical review section, you can do that and use quotes from reviews (you need a full citation, though. What you had is insufficient for our readers to verify). In keeping with your connection, this is an area where you should be very careful. If there are negative reviews, those must be included in full balance with the positive. If reviews are primarily positive, but include some criticism, you should mention that. I am not familiar with this artist, so I don't really know. AMG does not have a review of this album, but it does review some others, including Yola. To give an example what I mean, I will try to add some balance to Yola (Album). On reporting critical response, our aim is to give an overall feel for reviews, both good and bad. If we seem to be focusing too much on the good, then we throw the article out of balance and bring our neutrality into question.
I've made a few other changes to some of your album articles to bring them a little more in line with Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums, but there's a lot more that could be done without much fear of "conflict of interest" if you'd like to give it a shot. For instance, you'll note that I added the category "Eleanor McEvoy albums" to some of her album articles. This should be added to all. I've created that Category:Eleanor McEvoy albums, so that people interested in reading about her albums can easily find them. Album titles are put into italics, not bold. Song titles are listed in quotation marks. The track lists of these articles needs composer information and track times. Note, too, that at What's Following Me? I've added discography information to the infobox. Using these fields allows readers to easily follow her from one album to the next. If you want to read more about the kinds of things that these album articles need, please check out the WikiProject link above. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:28, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
