Add Citation/Reference in the Intro[edit]

Add more information/references for the last statement of the intro[edit]

The last sentence of the introduction paragraph states: "Educational inequality also causes a number of problems in the United States, one of which is the increasing population in prisons". It would be helpful to add more information that shows the relationship between the factors of educational inequality that contribute to an increasing population in prison. Include Historical Development Section[edit]

Prior to going into the solutions to educational inequality such as Charter Schools, it may be helpful to include a section that shows the history of educational inequality from the early exclusionary methods of schools to the contemporary exclusionary/unequal components. Article Critique (assignment)[edit]

I liked that this article is direct and sticks to the point, however use of citations to make facts provided more credible, and would be helpful in bringing the strength of this article to a higher level. However, the context provided does help the reader understand the main factors that contribute to educational inequality. The article also explain how these factors affect access to quality education, and how income inequality is a divisive measure in education. I feel that going into a little bit more depth on how charter and private schools might be beneficial to closing the educational inequality gap might be helpful in maintaining a neutral perspective. As well as bring into light the importance of social justice movements that seek to address a resolution towards educational inequality, rather than only focusing on causality. Which could significantly increase the awareness towards the importance of how this issue is being addressed, what the overall results are, and whether they are effective in reducing or eliminating educational inequality.

Overall seems like a very thorough investigation over that matter, good variety and amount of relatively neutral references provided. I would say the article needs more in-text citations.

I would like to propose an addition to this article to talk about the various educational inequalities specifically in African Americans. I am considering adding on to this article. Race and ethnicity are mentioned throughout the article, but I would like to create a subsection similar to the socioeconomic status section. I am working on creating another article, White Supremacy in United States School Curriculum, and I am currently thinking of adding a section on white supremacy in curriculum to this article with a link. The topics I would cover in this article's section would be an overview of white supremacy, Eurocentrism and whitewashing in modern school curriculum and the effects of these on students, namely internalized racism and the association of academic success with whiteness. Hi MBJAnderson, great contributions on the incredibly important topic of white supremacy in U.S. education. I wanted to point out that the section you added does not address all points of view. Specifically, the view that racism and white supremacy does not inform social structures or the U.S. education system. I would suggest adding a sentence or two to recognize the denial of white supremacy in U.S. curricula in order to fit with Wikipedia’s NPOV policies. The section may also benefit from some mention of recent pushes to build a new antiracist education system in the wake of the recent BLM movement. Hey guys, very well done I can tell this article has had a lot of thought put into the new revisions. All that work though has resulted in great information that might need to be broken up a little bit more with other illustrations, graphs, statistics, lists, or subtitles to make it easier to digest. Additionally, I think there are some small minority groups like Asian-Americans and Native-Americans that don't get much attention, though I know the availability of research probably plays a role in that. And finally, just to get the message out further, I'd recommend some extra links in historical articles dealing with civil rights movements, or other inequality articles. WP:POV in White supremacy in curriculum[edit]

Hi, the section on "white supremacy in curriculum" seems to me to violate WP:POV. It's one-sided, presents scholars' claims in wikivoice, conflates a lot of historical facts with the present day situation, equates an "overrepresentation of...European and white American culture" to white supremacy, and is light on sources linking this curriculum to inequalities in education outcomes. Hi, I am finally finishing up a revised version of this section. The one thing I have been having trouble with is finding scholarship that refutes the idea that white supremacy exists in school curriculum, or that curriculum is equitable. I could use some help locating sources, if you are willing Stonkaments? And also - Sumanuil if you're interested...All I have right now is slightly different arguments about the effectiveness of multiculturalism. Hi! After reading this article, two things that came to mind when thinking about what could improve this article were

  • The effect of mostly White teacher populations on Students of Color (but it is possible that there is not much good research on this).
