US Navy has NOT ordered Super Tucanos[edit]

Please see this source from today. (Google translation here.) Per the source, it is a bid in the USAF competition, but the PC-9 and T-6 are also in the running. So yes, I do know how to use a translator page, and yes, I was right to question this source's infomation. Thanks to User:DagosNavy for providing the Valor Online source. - BilCat (talk) 03:33, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is in a competition alongside the T-6B Texan II, A-67 Dragon, and the OV-10X Bronco for a tri-service bid to provide the US military with a new aircraft. All four are excellent candidates with the Texan already being in service as a trainer in the US, while the Dragon has the lowest over all cost. However the Embraer and the OV-10D Bronco are both already in service with the Colombian Air Force. The Embraer was intended to replace the ancient Vietnam era Bronco but the Colombians have yet to pull them from service or the rumors of the Colombian Bronco's being used as a model for the OV-10X's by Boeing are true. Regardless the Embraer should be the favorite in the competition unless Boeing does something drastic.-Renteria —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.201.33.16 (talk) 04:29, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Details are elusive on the U.S. Navy’s recent study of the Super Tucano called Imminent Fury: Apparently, the intent was to demonstrate four airframes, but only one was actually flown after being leased from Xe Corp., the former Blackwater. source. Also this newspaper US Navy does not have any Super Tucano, it should be removed from list of operators. Dafranca (talk) 00:31, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but it has operated at least one on trials so the comment One aircraft with the designation A-29 under lease for testing as part of the Imminent Fury program. is perfectly correct, I dont see any reason to remove it. MilborneOne (talk) 15:43, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inspired by P51 Mustang?[edit]

The single seat version highly resembles the P51-D Mustang, especially the tailfin and canopy shape. The two planes are pretty close in length and wingspan. Bizzybody (talk) 10:06, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In a way. It's actually inspired by fighter/light ground attack aircraft of the mid 1930s in general, prime examples being the Supermarine Spitfire or the Messerschmidt 109. The reasoning behind this is quite simple: It's way more efficient to just oldschool strafe some machine-gun-on-a-pickup-insurgents into oblivion with a .50cal, instead of dropping a high precision weapon (itself probably rivaling the cost of a whole low tech attack plane) by means of a $100,000,000+ F-35 onto their heads. Number built[edit]

2 prototypes + 87 Brazil + 3 Burkina Faso + 12 Chile + 25 Colombia + 8 Dominican Republic + 18 Ecuador + 1 Blackwater = 156 units deliveried Dafranca77 (talk) 17:16, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure it is right, first question are the Burkin Faso aircraft from the cancelled Ecuador batch 314000156 to 314000161 I have not seen any serial numbers quoted and you are missing 5701 the first prototype. The highest msn I have seen is 314000169 which as you say included 99 Brazil, 12 Chile, 25 Colombia, 8 Dom Republic, 18 Ecuador, 1 Civil and six cancelled from the Ecuador order. So the production batch is either 169 if the Burkina Faso are from the Ecuador batch or if they are additional build it would make 172. Two prototypes converted from EMB 312s PP-ZTV/5700 and PP-TZF/5900 plus the prototype A-29A 5701 would make it either 169+3 (172) or 172+3 (175). All original research so it really needs a reliable source. MilborneOne (talk) 19:18, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Officially 156 as November 2011: http://ri.embraer.com.br/Download.aspx?Arquivo=xupHh6PxdvRy+ImKAdNJWw== . Brazil has 12 yet to be delivered acording to World Air Forces 2011-2012: http://www.flightglobal.com/airspace/media/reports_pdf/world-air-forces-2011-2012-90190.aspx Dafranca (talk) 00:30, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

United Arab Emirates[edit]

I deleted the information about the acquisition of Air Tractors by the UAE, since it has nothing to do with Embraer or the Super Tucano. Why was this even included in the article in the first place? 188.103.140.216 (talk) 04:22, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:
