Qualifiers by rating[edit]

It's not mentioned in the regulations that players qualify via June 2023 rating list. What to do? Dev Darshan T. K. (talk) 09:38, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it is. "One hundred players shall qualify by their rating. For this purpose, the FIDE rating in June FIDE Standard Rating List shall be used." Regulation 2.1A
They updated it recently, so it may not have been mentioned until then A3811 (talk) 13:44, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notes on upcoming tourney[edit]

We should probably add the current sports template once the tournament begins. I also think the format for the FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament 2021 is pretty good. That would involve moving the participants to a results section and changing the table format. This approach could also be used for the FIDE Women's Grand Swiss Tournament 2023 page.

In terms of updating, it is not going to be feasible to update a ranking table on a per-game basis (particularly with tie-breakers). Especially since there may be appeals or technology errors with boards, resulting in misleading initial reports. I suggest we wait for official updates from the rankings page and insert a hidden comment in the code encouraging people to wait to update results.

Perhaps during the tourney it would be best to only list the points and tie-breakers, rather than the entire cross-table. It would take significant effort to update the table in the later rounds, as each players opponent is typically referred to by their ranking, so all of those would need to be updated whenever rankings change. 74.98.226.15 (talk) 09:41, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
