Proposed merge of Johnny Doran with Felix Doran[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was: not merged. (While there was apparent/early support for a merge, the article(s) were subsequently expanded and those initially advocating a merge didn't progress with it. Non-admin closure/uninvolved editor closure.) Guliolopez (talk) 15:21, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As Felix appears to almost exclusively be covered in the context of his brother Johnny, these subjects would likely be better represented as a joint biography. signed, Rosguill talk 22:10, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support merge with redirect. Mccapra (talk) 13:11, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support barely enough information on the subject in his own right JW 1961 Talk 14:47, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support for the reasons stated above. If/when this becomes the final decision, and if the nominator does not have time to do the merge, please contact me and I can do it. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 16:15, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Both warrant an own article, just as they have in the Companion of Irish Traditional Music by Fintan Vallely. I have by now added three different sources, all books all books from my own shelves to Johnny Doran. And one book to Felix Doran. The Banner talk 17:20, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. It's been a year since this merge was proposed, and while there appears to have been some support, the only editor who has followed-up and taken action is The Banner. Who has (apparently) found and added additional sources to establish independent notability. While I am an "uninvolved editor" (and have no firm feelings either way), both articles are in a much different place than they were when the merge was proposed. To extent that each probably could stand on its own. Otherwise I'm not sure what value there is in leaving this thread/proposal open indefinitely. Unless there are other thoughts, I'm inclined to remove the tags and close this thread as "not merged". Guliolopez (talk) 15:31, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Closing. As above, and as it is now more than a year since the merge was proposed (and with no input or action to progress the proposed merge) I've gone ahead and removed the tags and closed this discussion. If the proposer (or supporters) feel strongly enough, can (of course) re-open. Otherwise this appears to be an inactive thread/proposal. Guliolopez (talk) 15:21, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
