Places called Gaylord[edit]

Only in America ;)

The funniest (or saddest, perhaps) part is that the Catholic Church picked this small town over all others in the area to seat a diocese. Maybe someone should find out what the story behind that is and explain it here, if only to prevent readers from jumping to the same conclusion I did (or confirm their suspicions) InedibleHulk (talk) 16:13, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Origin of the name?[edit]

Why is it called Gaylord?--64.121.1.55 00:38, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps this will give you some answer: From a surname which was derived from Old French gaillard "high-spirited". http://www.behindthename.com/php/view.php?name=gaylord El Ucca 10:48, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Theres a sign in front of the courthouse that explains the name. Gaylord was a laywer for a railroad company. The town was originally called Barnes but was changed to Gaylord in the late 1800s.

Commercial link[edit]

I note that 24.180.198.126 continues to put in a link to a website that starts with the heading

"REAL ESTATE IS MY BUSINESS"

There is nothing else on that website. It is a commercial link, pure and simple. It does NOT belong in Wikipedia.

Moreover, he/she removes links to the Chamber of Commerce, which actually has lots of community informaiton links, and to the airport. This is very strange.

It is wrong.

Nick Names[edit]

I've attempted to add the nick name that Gaylord is known by among Northern Michigan Natives: "Northern Michigan's Butt Hole". This is not a joke or vandalism on my part. This is the towns actual name due to it's large support of suburban sprawl. I don't want to cause trouble or saturate Gaylords page with negative info of Gaylord but, I do feel it is acceptable to add some kind of mention of Gaylords reputation in the surrounding counties. How do I add this without it getting flagged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.208.80.47 (talk) 03:50, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You need WP:RS. Not just your opinion or a blog. 7&6=thirteen () 13:23, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article organization[edit]

User 7&6=thirteen made a blanket revert of my clean up edits. Did you really dislike every single one of my edits, or just some of them? Surely you could agree that, for example, the 'schools' subsection shouldn't fall under the 'demographics' section. Let's discuss. Brycehughes (talk) 23:30, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, this seems to have resolved itself. Brycehughes (talk) 03:42, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
