Prince de tricanule[edit]

The following information should be added by someone who knows the history and can find the primary French sources: In May 1831, Mouton mustered fire fighters' hoses to disperse a Bonapartist manifestation on Place Vendôme. For this he was satirized by Honoré Daumier in the newspaper La Caricature carrying his notorious enema syringe as "Le Prince de Tricanule" (number 94, plate 191/2, 23 August 1832, DR number 49), then in the lithograph "CORTÈGE. du commandant Général des Apothicaires, le prince Lancelot de Tricanule, à son entrée dans la chambre des Pairs" (CORTÈGE of the commander general of Apothecaries, prince Lancelot de Tricanule at his entry into the Chamber of Peers, number 143, plate 299/300, 1 August 1833, DR number 65) and again as waiting to administer a clyster to the ailing France, who is first being bled by King Louis Philippe (number 161, plate 337, dated 12 May 1833, DR number 73).
