Please explain the rationale for why Golden Circle (Food Company) doesn't deserve preference over the other articles listed here? This move did not get discussed prior to implementation.

Because it is not more important than all other uses of "Golden Circle" combined. Second tier English law firms are important, The tourist route in iceland is important to them, and the jazz club matters to music afficianados.

To top it all off, if any golden circle article deserves preference, it is the slavery related article, hands down. I'm sure that corporation has nice guys working in it who make nice things. But as far as companies go, it is tiny, and may vanish soon into the coca-cola corporation. If corporations had their way, we would all pay a reasonable fee for every wiki page view. Wikipedia is not an adverstising vehicle for them.
